Interviews corresponding to the operations of Independent Living Home or Unlicensed Board and Care. Phillip Jude Thaddeus A. Domantay, Owner and Administrator had shared the ideas of how this type of facility can differ to any Licensed Care Facilities for Adults in terms of services, residency requirements, living independently and programs in a communal setting.

Halloween 2024

Halloween is one of the events we celebrate at King Phillip Independent Living home. Residents look forward to it and plan themselves what to do to participate.

This year was a bit quiet. A few swung by for Trick or treat. Our Neighborhood used to have participants for Trick or Treat for at least enjoy the treats we have to offer.

Next year, King Phillip Home and its residents are hoping to have more participants as it will fall on Friday.

Fourth of July 2024

The Independence Day Celebration was very memorable with a long fireworks display in the sky lasted until early in the morning.

The residents and staff had worked together to make the party wonderful. Everyone helped out to prepare the party.

Everyone enjoyed the party started with traditional burgers, hotdogs, sausages, drinks, fruits and Chicken BBQ.

Karaoke, Group Sing-along, Trivia and giveaways were some of the highlights at the event.

Christmas 2023

Ho! Ho! Ho! 2023 is bit challenging and yet memorable. The traditional celebration still another memory to all residents and staff.

Residents woke up early on Christmas morning and had a good breakfast together. Enjoyed some conversations with hot chocolate and some while enjoying Christmas movie :)

They received their gifts and you can see in their faces with smile and full of surprises. But sadly to hear that some of them haven't received any Christmas presents in the past many years. This year, it was a memorable! King Phillip Independent Living home made their Christmas back with spirit.

Honestly, while I am writing this note, it was an emotional moment for me to hear their stories in the past years when they did not feel the spirit of Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2023

This year, our tradition continues at King Phillip Independent Living where the residents and staff are celebrating holidays together and enjoy every moment.

Thank you to all who continue to trust us and choose King Phillip as their new homes.

Halloween 2023

It was super cold night outside while enjoying the "Trick or treat". It's also another year when very minimal Trickers and Treaters on the street.

The Staff and Residents still enjoyed the night with some goodies and halloween music.

Thanksgiving 2022

The season of Fall and Winter where you get the coolest air during the day and at night and this is when the people are planning how to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones.

At King Phillip Independent Living, we value our tradition of celebrating the holidays with our residents and staff.

This fall season, we started with a simple "Thanksgiving Lunch" where we had prepared Fried Turkey and some goodies. The residents participated very well during the preparation from the table to the stove.

4th of July 2022

A few days before the 4th, the residents already talking about the BBQ event for the 4th. Some had requested for what to they want to have for the party and some were excited for the trivia to win prizes.

The party went very well. Residents were very appreciated and they enjoyed a lot. Almost all had participated to the trivia and won prizes.

After a few years with COVID-19 restrictions, this year's birthday celebration we are able to blow the cakes without any restrictions. It is really back to normal! Please check these pictures below to see how our residents enjoyed their birthdays!

Another wonderful Celebration where you see our Residents smile in their faces. A buffet set-up with their favorite selections.
Some of them never tried a "Fried Turkey" in the past. Well, they definitely loved it and looking forward to have it again.

It was a chilled night and a bit windy but the party continued. The residents stayed outside and participated to give away treats to the kids in the Neighborhood.

4th of July 2021

After the State California completely opened last June 15th, a lot of exciting activities are back. This is a full celebration where fireworks everywhere were non-stop and fabulous in the sky.

KPIL continues with the tradition for the residents and staff to celebrate one of the favorite holidays of the year, the America's Independence Day.

Ice Cream Treat

When they hear the "Sorbetero" or "Ice Cream Man" on the street, they seem to be enjoying to hear the bell and that means it is ice cream time especially during summer time.

Once you call for Ice Cream time, a long line will form in seconds.

We love to see our residents with smile in their faces :)

Easter Sunday 2021

Our first time to celebrate "Easter Sunday" at KPIL. Prizes were great and every one enjoyed egg hunting. Prizes given were gift cards, cash prizes, sweet treats, etc.
After Egg Hunting event, the residents enjoyed Pizza and some refreshment.

Christmas 2020

We are getting so excited everyday approaching Christmas Day. Our Residents know the traditions of having good meals on Christmas Day morning with an array of food selection.

Their Gifts and Christmas Stockings are all ready to be given away. We are just waiting for Christmas Day!

Another highlight event we have each year, the "Thanksgiving Celebration".
A tradition at King Phillip Independent Living where the importance of socialization, friendships and promoting a quality of life.
Despite of the Pandemic, we still had the celebration this year with strict limitations, guidelines and precautions. We had to limit certain amount residents going to the buffet at a time and continue to observe social distancing. We finished the event with "Thanksgiving Trivia" with a limited number of participants.

Halloween 2020

This year's Halloween is a bit quiet. We projected that there will be no "Trick or Treat" but still provided some goodies. We were so excited as this year's Halloween falls on Saturday but due to the Pandemic, it was so different. The Residents still participated but with some Health and Safety limitations.

We continue with the tradition although there were only a few kids who came by. But we still made these kids with smile in their faces.

We are hoping that next year will be back and to be more enjoyable as there were in the past.

4th of July 2020

This year, it was a great Independence Celebration! Although, California is still in "Shelter in Place".
Fireworks was amazing! There were more to see in the sky this year.

Thank you for the wonderful residents at King Phillip Independent Living who were very helpful to make this gathering very successful.

Birthdays 2020

Our Residents Celebrate their Birthdays with Us. Birthday is a very important for each of them. At King Phillip Independent Living, it is our Pleasure to Celebrate and Join them for their special days.

Our Residents at King Phillip Independent Living (KPIL) love Pizza. That's why KPIL provides this small gathering but Super Fun for them.

"It is the most Wonderful Time of the Year....." A very special celebration for the Holidays where they get their wish gifts.

We have some awesome games and array of breakfast selection. Everyone had a great time!

Preparing the Christmas

Residents at King Phillip Independent Living (KPIL) are very involved in decorating the house especially during the holidays. They love to be part of ownership and programming. They love to help with the Chores, BBQ during the Social Events, etc.

This is on the Mission of KPIL. To promote Independence and Celebrate Individuality. We want our Residents to have the feeling of being at their own home. By involving themselves in decorating the house for the Holiday will promote a good sense of ownership and call " KPIL as their Home".

Thanksgiving 2019

Wow! One of the Favorite Holidays! We had great crowd this year! Most of the Residents spent Thanksgiving with us.

According to the Residents, this was the "best Thanksgiving Celebration they ever had". We had more food selections on the buffet, Fried Turkey was the Favorite along with Fresh Green String Beans with Walnuts. The Candied Yams gets the big scoop on the table and on their Plates.

We are very thankful and happy that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving Day. We look forward for the next Holiday Celebration for Christmas and on New Year!

Halloween 2019

Our Halloween Celebration this is much more fun! More Residents Participated and enjoyed sharing Goodies to the Children in the Neighborhood.

Our Pets Charlie (The Dog) and Pusa (The Cat) were at the party as well.

Birthdays 2019

This section will be used to publish our Celebrations for everyone's birthdays for the year 2019. Our goal is to make our Residents feel at home and have a family who can join them celebrating their special day in life.

KPIL gathers everyone including staff to celebrate the birthday with their cake of choice.

Another favorite celebration at KPIL. Enjoyed the BBQ under the Sun and smoke smell from the grill.
Great Fireworks at Night around the area. This year we got great fireworks display until midnight.

Christmas 2018

It's another Wonderful Time of the Year! This year we have more friends who joined us. An array of food on the buffet. It was a great celebration! Also, John (Resident) had joined us attending "Simbang Gabi" / "Misa De Gallo" at 5 am and offered during the Mass. King Phillip Independent Living also sponsored one of the Breakfasts after the Mass.

Gifts, Give-aways (Cash, Food and other stuff) were given away.

Wonderful Blessings, Prosperity, Good Health and Good Life to all from King Phillip Independent Living Management, Residents and Friends.

Thanksgiving 2018

One of the most awaited holiday events at King Phillip Independent Living when our Residents are looking forward to have. This year, we prepared Fried Turkey. Although, most of our Residents left and spent time with their friends and families, we still had great time to enjoy Thanksgiving together.

Trick or Treat 2018

A traditional party at King Phillip Independent Living when everyone participates and enjoys giving away candies to the kids in our neighborhood. A favorite soup was served again while the weather is cold and breezy.

Another Wonderful Year! This year we had a Brunch Buffet, more gifts and of course, more Prizes were given away!

Thanksgiving 2017

Is Two Turkey enough? Are you serving at lunch or dinner? Can you save my Turkey? These questions were being asked a few times this week. We ended up 8 people in the house and some left the house and spent time with their families and friends. We had enough Turkey, Sweet Yams, Mashed Potatoes, Pies, Veggies, etc. They had a great dinner ! Check our pictures below to enjoy.

Monthly Outing and Treat: November 2017

This month, the Residents had another blast and enjoyed Burgers and Fries at "In N' Out". They had been waiting for this since a few weeks ago.

Halloween 2017: Trick or Treat

Every year, King Phillip Independent Living can't miss Halloween Treat for the kids in the Neighborhood. There were many kids came by and enjoyed our treats. This year, Ronald prepared 'Chili Bean Soup" for every one to enjoy during that cold night. Kids in the Neighborhood always love our treats! Our Residents participated and enjoyed to be part of this Activity. A place they called "Their home".

Every month, the Staff and the Residents go out for fun and good bonding. This month we are back again to their favorite buffet restaurant. Every one had fun with array of delicious food.

It's Another Year for the BBQ Social that every one loves to have. This year we prepared Array of Selections and a Gift Bag for each Residents and their Guests.

4th of July 2016

This year's 4th of July Celebration is more intense and sparkly. There were more fireworks and with a lot of people participated. The Chipotle Hotdog, BBQ Pork Ribs, Chicken Wings, Fresh Corn and Shrimps were the favorites.

New Year's Party 2016

Another wonderful time in the beginning of the year of 2016. Tossed of drinks, finger food and a lot of prizes given away. This year will be another great year for us and everyone. Happy New Year everyone and a Prosperous 2016.
